Our wide variety of materials helps your floor inlay design stand out.

Material Overview

Oshkosh Designs uses natural materials for our custom medallion, border and parquet products as well as our home flooring.

  • Hardwood, natural stone and marble medallions
  • Hardwood and stone borders
  • Parquet wood flooring and stone tiles

Our woods are not stained and our stones are not ceramic. We recognize and appreciate the natural beauty of the materials we incorporate into our designs and use their natural characteristics to add to the uniqueness of the inlay design.

  • Nature's trademarks leave no two pieces of wood or stone alike.
  • Wood mineral streaks, small knots, grain and color variations, sap pockets, flecking, etc. give wood materials a unique personality. Likewise, the varied fissures and crevices found in stone give each piece its own color, texture and structural characteristics
  • Variations in parquet floor tiles and hardwood or stone floor inlay are natural occurrences due to species and age of the wood and stone, plus exposure to UV lighting. Such variations contribute to the natural beauty and character of these materials and allow your inlay to remain beautiful for a lifetime.
Wood Materials

Different woods are chosen to use in the inlay designs based on:

  • Overall visual appearance
  • Natural wood color and variation is implemented into each
    design for consistent visual appearance that will last for years to come
  • Grain: The designs are created with woods that have similar grains to allow for expansion and contraction.
  • Hardness: Most of our product goes into high traffic areas, so we make sure to suggest and use both hard and durable woods.

Stone Materials

Stones are chosen to achieve overall visuals.

  • We use either honed or polished marbles and granites, slates and travertines to achieve depth in designs.
  • We chose durable stones that will not crumble easily and will accept sealant well.
  • All of our stones are natural.

Glass Materials

We are an environmentally conscious company.

  • 85% of the glass that we use is a recycled product. Because of this, the consistency of color, smoothness and thickness of the glass varies.
